Architecting the interface between humans and autonomous fleets.
A mission-critical telematics dispatch console and passenger in-cabin digital product for urban robotics.
THE CHALLENGE
Operators were suffering cognitive fatigue from legacy avionics-style multi-monitor clutter. The system needed extreme information density paired with zero-error human factors engineering under high stress.
Aurora operates autonomous vehicle fleets across three metropolitan test zones. Fieldnote conceptualized and engineered the real-time operational telemetry console used by fleet dispatchers.
THE STRATEGY & SYSTEM
We instituted a radical typography-first layout with high-contrast hierarchical status zones, micro-states with 60fps vector motion, and audio-tactile alerts mapped to critical fleet exceptions.
Dispatcher intervention latency dropped from 45 seconds to under 18 milliseconds, while passenger trust metrics rose to 94% across all commercial test routes.
VERIFIED PERFORMANCE
“Fieldnote didn't just design screens; they gave our autonomous fleet an operational nervous system that dispatchers trust with zero hesitation.”
